Simply Hymns.  (2002)  Simply Hymns is a collection of 32 hymns that include many of my personal favorites.  Most of these 42 pages of hymns can be played at a beginner level, noting only one string at a time.  One unique aspect of this book is that it comes in three different versions.  One is for the popular DAD tuning.  The other includes the same or very similar arrangements for the DGD tuning.  The newest addition is a version for the DAA tuning.  It's my hope that by becoming familiar with different tunings for the same songs, players will be able to discover the relationship between tunings and begin to discover which tuning works better in different circumstances.  Thus, they will become stronger players with more choices at their disposal.  For a complete listing of songs included, click on the picture of the book.

Around the World with the Mountain Dulcimer (2003).  This book started out as a repertoire workshop that I was teaching, but I enjoyed the international folksongs so much that I made a small book (13 songs- 20 pages).  It's neat to find tunes that fit on the dulcimer outside of the standards that a lot of people play.  There is a companion CD available with this book that plays through every song three times on the piano.  It's very simple; its purpose is only to let someone hear how the tune goes.  For a listing of the songs included click the graphic.
